This is a special order trilobal, sparkling antron veil with very high fiber count, no bulk and high strength. If used sparsely, it actually lets the egg colors show through the veil when wet, unlike other materials or egg yarns. The finest available - ties over 100 plus flies per pack!

These single egg patterns with a small bead inside the egg, near the outside edge of the egg, are the exclusive pattern from "The Otter". Available in both the 6 mm and 8 mm size eggs, in the following colors:

We offer Custom tied flies by Walt "The Otter" for a set price of $6.00 per 3 pack. Extra charges for special hook types, other than our standard 2X heavy scud hooks, may apply. Egg Colors & Egg Sizes- all 21 egg colors are offered, in 7 egg sizes.
We offer flies tied on the stout "The Brute" hooks on 3X heavy wire, wide gape, scud hooks.
Soft Sucker Spawn Globule patterns are available on other hook sizes and # of eggs used (such as 4 eggs on a #16; 10 eggs on a #10, etc.)
Hook sizes are available other than these standards, such as 4 mm on a #16, etc.:

Hooks for Tying Otters's "Soft Milking Egg"^® patterns

We stock a very limited supply of hooks for our customers needing the correct sizes/styles for our Otter Egg materials, to properly tie our Otter Egg patterns, and we do not stock large inventories of hooks just for bulk sales. Please keep this in mind on your orders and we appreciate your consideration of our policy.

We offer two types of hooks for tying our Egg Materials on scud hooks:

"The Brute"-3X Heavy and the Montana Fly Company "#7045"-2X Heavy

Comparison of 2X versus 3X hook eyes:

For Large 35#+ King Salmon and 20#+ Steelhead

"The Brute" Hook -25 scud hooks per pack of 3X Heavy Wide Gape Hooks. This extra heavy 3X strong wide gape hook is suitable for holding very large trout, steelhead, or salmon. We have personally used it on 35# King Salmon and 20#+ steelhead.

An extra heavy hook that will hold a large steelhead!

Eagle Claw Octopus Hooks - 25 hooks per pack, Eagle Claw Laser Sharp L2 Needlepoint Octopus style, model L2BU. An extra heavy hook, long shank with offset bend and large eye that will hold a large steelhead. Use for "Pegging" Otter Eggs below the egg on your leader.

Embryo Egg Glass Beads for Pegging Otter Eggs

EMBRYO EGG GLASS BEADS:
To form a Pegged "Otter's "Soft Embryo Egg"© onto your leader, first double loop a bead onto your leader 2 inches above your hook. Then thread an Otter's egg over the hook point/shank/eye onto the leader and then over the bead; OR for tying a regular Otter's "Soft Embryo Egg"© fly pattern onto a hook. (Look under "Tying Tips" on the Home page header for more detailed instructions).

Available in three bead sizes that will fit inside four of Otter's Egg sizes:

13/0 bead for 4 mm eggs ( Approx. 475 per pack);
10/0 bead for 6 mm eggs ( Approx. 325 per pack);
8/0 bead for both 8 mm and 10 mm eggs ( Approx. 250 per pack);

This kit contains 4 packs of egg materials: 2 packs of OS-3 (2x2 mm) materials (100 each in a double row of 2 mm eggs in Buff & Apricot Opaque colors) plus 2 packs of 3 mm egg materials in Tangerine and Apricot; 50 each size of MFC #16 & # 18 light wire "up eye" hooks, plus a package of Otter's Milking Veil material to tie up over 100 flies.

Not only created for the Western US Gold Medal tail waters, this kit works well on all Eastern areas or anywhere you have highly selective trout that have seen hundreds of fly and egg patterns. I personally use them on the Colorado and Wyoming Gold Medal fly only area tail waters in the Rockies with excellent success, not only during the spring and fall spawning months but also in the "off spawning" months, to take trophy sized trout in these difficult and heavily fished tail water areas.

Small Threader Best for small hooks and beads (10/0 and 13/0) and smaller egg sizes (3 mm, 4 mm, 6 mm). "The Otter" uses this small threader for all his egg pegging, as the thin wire makes a very small hole in the egg.

Float Stops

Float Stops

These tiny rubber float stops come 15 per pack- 5 each on 3 looped wires. Simply insert your leader through the wire loop; pull the rubber float stop off the wire loop onto the leader; and thats it! Use these to hold your Otter Egg in place, about 2 inches above your hook. You can easily move the float stop up and down the leader to your desired location!

Especially used for spin and center pin fishermen. Not for use with extremely high velocity back cast loops, such as with spey rods. Best with fly rods using high stick methods, using 3X to 1X leader to prevent slippage of stops on leaders.

Micro Swivels

Micro Swivels

These micro swivels are extremely strong and very small. Simply tie your tippet to the swivel and then the swivel to the end of your leader. Eliminates leader twist and the swivel acts as a "stop" on your leader for BB shot so they don't move down your leader. Quantity is 10 per pack." - - Price is USD $2.49.
